It All Started as an Infant
I would like to take you back to my childhood and tell you how I came to know the Lord. I owe it all to Jesus and my parents. I thank God for saving me. Let me tell you how it started.
When I was an infant I started reaching for things that I shouldn't have. I would pull my mother's hair. She would teach me what "NO" meant. If that didn't work she would pull my hair the next time. I soon began to learn what "NO" meant.
Then I became a toddler. I used to like to jump on the bed. My mother who cared so much for me, told me that was wrong. She spanked me "every" time I would jump on the bed. She taught me not to stand on the furniture. She taught me not to sit on the kitchen table. That's a place to eat, you see. Oh yes, it started as soon as I started doing wrong.
Then one day I started school. Do you know I was six years old and I was scared to do wrong at school. I was fearful my teacher would be like my mom and tell me I was doing wrong like my mom did. I thank God for this fear. Proverbs 1:7- "the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction."
One day I grew up. I thought I knew more than my parents. I thought they were too strict on me. I thought I knew more than they did. I thank God for them, they just kept being strict. I told them it wasn't fair that I couldn't go where I wanted to go. When I wanted to go. Little did I know what God had in store for me. Too many parents don't know what their children are doing. Mothers are not training their children. They are turning them loose and letting them do whatever they want to do.
Proverbs 29:15- "The rod and reproof give wisdom: but a child left to himself bring of his mother to shame." Too many children are bringing their mother to shame.
Oh! It didn't stop there. One day Jesus came knocking at my heart's door. I feared for my soul's sake and asked him to save me. Is in a good how God brings us to him. It all started as an infant.
Proverbs 13:24- "He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes."
Proverbs 29:17- "Correct thy son, and he shall give thee rest; yea, he shall give delight unto thy soul."
