Bible doctrine is very important! In fact if you do not have the correct Bible doctrine you could commit the sin of blasphemy. The ultimate sin of blasphemy is the final rejection of the Holy Spirit. But how does this happen from the sin of doctrinal blasphemy? We should study to show ourselves approved (2 Tim 2:15)!
1 Timothy 6:1
Let as many servants as are under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honour, that the name of God and his doctrine be not blasphemed. KJV
The name of God is blasphemed when we who profess the “NAME” of Christ do not do what He has asked us to do. Meaning if we take the name of Christ and call ourselves Christians and do not observe the clear teachings from the Bible then we are in error and under the deception of the enemy (Satan). However, if we call ourselves “Christians” and walk in the light, and are searching for more light, then we are justly representing the name of Christ.
How do we know what is expected of us? How do we know what Jesus Christ wants us to do? The Bible, the blessed Bible tells us so! The Bible has teachings in it that are to be followed and those teachings are called DOCTRINE. If we follow the Biblical doctrines we are honoring the name of Jesus Christ and are staying clear of pagan sinful practices of the devil.
What does true Bible doctrine lead us to? Godliness! How do we know this? Is it because some pastor says so? Is it because we were told so by our parents? Or is it because the Bible tells us so? For me, I have chosen (exercised my God given free will) to follow the Bible. Now look at the rest of the passage in 1 Tim 6:2,3.
1 Tim 6:2-3
2 And they that have believing masters, let them not despise them, because they are brethren; but rather do them service, because they are faithful and beloved, partakers of the benefit. These things teach and exhort.
3 If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness; KJV
In verse 3 we see that doctrine leads to GODLINESS! Following true doctrine helps us to know what decisions to make. Our decisions must be based on the Word of God! Our pastor may be nice and of a well pleasing address and loved by the people, but the fact of the matter is that not our pastor or mom and dad can save us! It is Christ and Him crucified that can save us from choosing to sin. We must yield our will-power to that which we understand from the Bible and not from some religious leader! If a man yields his obedience (decision making ability) to what the pastor says, then he or she is in a cult! Our consciences are amenable to Christ ONLY and not the pastor or church leaders! If we submit our minds to a man for religious decisions and not Christ alone, then you are 100% deceived! You are set-up to take the mark of the beast when it comes. If you are not yielding your obedience to Christ now then when the antichrist system comes and pressures you to yield obedience to that wicked system, then you are already cultured to follow man and not Christ.
John 5:43
I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name , him ye will receive. KJV
If you are following the pastor and not the Bible you are in a cult and you are lost. The Holy Spirit is to have total dominion over your faith and decisions in religious matters. If you chronically follow your pastor and not the Holy Spirit, you will never receive the gift of grace, and salvation. You will grieve away the witnessing spirit of Christ and not hear the voice of God speaking to your soul.
John 10:27-28
27 My sheep hear my voice , and I know them, and they follow me:
28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. KJV
In order for you to hear the voice of Christ, you must submit your decisions to the Word of God, which means you must study the Bible and know it and have your HEART set to fully render obedience once the Holy Spirit convicts you on an issue. This is where many people get confused. They come under conviction and then run to their pastor and ask him what they should do. These people are in danger of being lost because they do not even know what conviction is and is not. They do not realize that their pastor is there as a resource not as an authority. The pastor’s are more often than not spiritually deficient, regardless of their Bible knowledge. Wisdom is a gift of the Holy Spirit, and so is knowledge, but knowledge without the presence of the Holy Spirit is worthless. Such is the case of many pastors. There are some faithful pastors; true, but it does not matter, if you are in a relationship with Jesus Christ through the Word of God and the conviction of the Holy Spirit, you will know when a pastor is deceived or not, and even still you should not be in the habit of submitting your reason to a man!
If you always submit your decisions in spiritual matters to a pastor then you are deceived and following a cult mentality. Not to mention rejecting the Holy Spirit’s dominion in your life. It does not matter what church you are in! It is the mental attitude of making spiritual decisions based on what man has to say and not the Word of God and the deep conviction of the Holy Spirit. Many people are in the service of Jesus Christ as pastors, evangelists, teachers, etc… and many of them preach and teach wonderfully. However, “Many are called but few are chosen (Matthew 22:14).” Why are they called into service? Because they have talents that God gave them! But the bigger question remains, why are they not chosen? Because, they chose to yield their “will” to their fellow man through traditions and not the Word of God and the Holy Spirit. They will be classed with the workers of iniquity. Look what Jesus Christ has to say about it!
Matt 7:21-23
21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. KJV
In closing, we asked the question about doctrine and blasphemy, and have now seen that blasphemy is due to the person submitting their decisions to man (pastor) and not the Bible. The result is a decision that does not follow the voice or teaching of God. Ignorance is no excuse, for if each person studied the Word of God with all their heart, then they would know EXACTLY what God wants them to do. It would not be clear; rather, it would be very, very clear their duty before God in religious decisions! There would be no confusion in religious issues. The word confusion in the Bible also means Babylon! If you are confused to your duty before God and do not have a PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP with HIM then you are a Babylonian, and not a Christian. To accept Jesus Christ is to be guided by HIM ONLY! It is my prayer that we all have that special connection with HIM.

I read some of the posts on the blog and I was saddened by the response of some of the poeple to the message that OSAS (once saved always saved) is a fabrication of Satan, a false tradition. Many people are hoping in the false assurance of OSAS. The doctrine does not make sense. If God created Lucifer and Lucifer was the high ranking angel in heaven, and OSAS doctrine is true, then Lucifer is saved! Think about this foolish doctrine, if Satan was saved at some point (and he was) how then did he get lost??? Because he sinned! He was given free will and he chose to sin! When we accept Jesus Christ as our saviour we still have a "free will" and all we are doing is making a public statement that we are going to know exercise our "free will" to obey the BIBLE and not sin (including the sinful teachings of man). We have the right to excercise our will for right doing, also called
"righteousness" or we can excercise our will for wrong doing, called satanic wickedness and sin. It is a choice. The devil did not "make us do it" rather man chooses to sin or to live righteously. The choice for righteousness is the blessing that comes into our life when we profess the LORD Jesus Christ. Jesus gives us the gift of the Holy Spirit and then our "will" is freed from satanic bondage! The gift of grace (Holy Spirit) is what alows us to choose righteousness. After we receive the Holy Spirit we do not have to obey Satan and sin/wickedness. If we did then you are not saved from sin, you are still living in it! IF YOU ARE STILL LIVING IN SIN BY YIELDING YOUR WILL TO SATAN THEN WHAT ARE YOU SAVED FROM??? NOTHING!!!!! THE WAGES OF SIN IS DEATH!
There is hope for the people that do not understand the truth. They need to have a desire to be free from "sinful decisions and habits" that they CHOOSE on a daily basis. Only the power of the living Christ can set that person free, so that they can live an obedient life. Look at this Bible text and claim it for your life, and just believe that Jesus Christ will help you make the right choices. If you believe Jesus can change you, He will change you! If you think all you can do is live in sin, then you will live in sin and die the second death! Your mouth profession is worthless! For a true mouth profession has heart obedience. For the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks! If you say you believe in Jesus Christ, then pray and study the Bible and claim the promises of God which give us power over sin!
Romans 6:16-17
16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?
17 But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.

I am so glad to see a family that loves the LORD and is not deceived into the false doctrines of the Baptist church. There are many sincere believers in the Baptist communion; however, sincerity does not save anything. We must go to the Bible and see a clear "thus saith the LORD." I had the pleasure to meet this family and I believe they are walking in the light of God's word, not in the light of their own kindling through pagan traditions. If we are faithful with the light that God gives, He will bless us with more light.
It would be a blessing to review from the KJV some of the other pagan traditions that have been handed down from the ROMISH church of the dark ages. Sunday sacredness needs to be examined very carefully, and God's truth must be seen for what it is from the Bible and the Bible alone! Lets study!

: I have no doubt that you are sincere in your beliefs. And I also believe that you love Mr. Simpson, just as you did Pastor Shifflett for all those years. But men do not have the keys to the Kingdom of Heaven...only God.
We also believe in the eternal security of the believer, just not the way you are being taught. We believe that the Bible teaches us to depart from iniquity, obey Jesus' commandments, and endure to the end for the salvation of our souls. We love Jesus for teaching us how to overcome sin, resist the devil, and live a holy life pleasing in the sight of God.
The Scriptures do not teach any security for those who depart from the faith, err or turn back to a life of continual sin.
And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. (John 8:32 KJV)

Dear Hilary,
The trash you speak of that comes from our mouth is the Word of God. We let the Bible speak for itself, and provide the truth for those who are willing and ready to hear it. So yes, there are people out there who are seeking the truth, who will receive it with an obedient spirit and are willing to obey it.
We know what Mr. Simpson believes, as we have been to his church and listened to him preach a good many times. We have heard from his own mouth what he believes, so the facts we have given are completely straight.
You say we are the ones who are believing a false doctrine. May I ask what this false doctrine is that you insist we are believing? If you honestly believe us to be wrong, you are welcome to come over to our house and visit us, Hilary, to have a Bible discussion with us and show us from the Scriptures where we are wrong.
Are 'preachers' so exalted that they cannot be rebuked or admonished when they turn from the narrow way? Mr. Simpson is preaching and teaching doctrines contrary to the Word of God, and is leading many down the broad way which leadeth to destruction. Is the truth really slanderous?
You see, Hilary, we also once believed in the false doctrines that are being taught at New Life and many other churches. It wasn't until we began studying God's Word on our own that the truth began to dawn on us. We must read the Bible with an open mind and an obedient spirit, and be willing to change if our doctrines don't line up with what Jesus taught.
Why are you ashamed to call us family, Hilary? Are you ashamed to have family members who are striving to obey Jesus Christ?
Looking unto Jesus,

You are a lier and you need to get your facts strait. Your the one who believes a false doctrine and you need to watch out when your slandering Preachers because the Lord will judge you.
I'm ashamed to call you my family.
I cant believe there are people that actually believes the trash that comes from your mouth.
If anyone wants to know what Bro.Simpson believes go to his church and listen to him preach.
: No, Hilary, I'm not a liar. My family heard it from Simpson's own mouth. He said that when a person is saved they now become two people. One is the old man who sins daily and the new man who is saved, sealed and going to heaven whether he wants to or not! That makes one man, divided in two! That is unBiblical! Jesus makes us whole, not divided!
And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. (1 Thessalonians 5:23 KJV)
A double minded man is unstable in all his ways. James 1:8 KJV
The Bible teaches that when a person is saved, his “old man” is crucified with Christ with the affections and lusts. The old life is gone. . . history. . . dead. . . buried! We then become a “new creature” in Christ Jesus! Have I lost you yet? The new man walks by his faith in Jesus and strives daily to obey “whatsoever Jesus commanded.” Jesus counts this as righteousness, just as he did for Abraham. He learns to control every thought as an obedient child of God by the help of the Holy Ghost that now dwells within him. The old man who used to steal, now steals no more! The old man that used to lie, now, lies no more! The old man who used to commit adultery in his heart, now, turns his head when an ungodly woman is before him. Mr. Simpson convinced his congregation that they do these ungodly acts daily!
And if the righteous man should be overcome, fall and commit sin, we have an advocate with the Father. . . Jesus Christ the righteous! He is ever ready to forgive us, but we must ask for that forgiveness. It's not automatically done for us like setting your computer to do a clean sweep of unwanted or corrupt files every week at 12:00 am.
Does any of this sound vaguely familiar? Probably not, because you have been taught the same false doctrine that Simpson is teaching the people at Calvary.
If you believe that what I just described to you is false doctrine and trash, as you call it, then you are the one with the problem. Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth? Galatians 4:16 KJV

After visiting New Life Baptist Church (formerly Calvary Baptist church) in Culpeper, VA last night, the only difference that we could see was the face behind the pulpit. Unfortunately, the same unBiblical doctrines that Shifflett taught are still being taught there. The new pastor believes that once a person is saved, he is now split and the one person now become two. . . one-half sinner and one-half eternally secure. The Bible says, "A double minded man is unstable in all his ways." James 1:8
According to Simpson's double-minded doctrine, Shifflett is only half guilty, (his sinner part of course) and no different from every member of "Calvary Baptist Church" whose other half is saved and eternally secure, so they think. The Bible teaches that a house divided cannot stand!
The main message coming from the pulpit is to follow the pastor, no questions asked ... at least not in "his" church. New Life Baptist's theme song, same as Calvary's theme songs:

I love the “following the pastor” song. Unfortunately that is true about many Christians. We believe our pastors’ every word, and we don’t search the scriptures for ourselves. I suggest every Christian to double check every ‘quote of the Bible’ that our pastors give us. Everyone makes mistakes, but some people delibrately leave out parts of scripture. Do not be deceived.

This just emphasizes the need to read the Bible for yourself. Too many just take the pastor’s word as the full truth when, as you witnessed, it may only be half true. I would hug your father for standing up for the full truth and enlightening them even though it was obviously an unwelcome interruption. At our church we are given the verses and invited to read along when he is giving scripture. Then at the end we are often challenged (given homework LOL) to read more about it.
Who wrote that song? It’s hilarious! How can he sing it without cracking up? I sure was.

Thanks for sharing this experience, Lacy. There is a man who hands out Bible tracts near the grocery store at lunchtime, and I often run into him. He preaches eternal security, and I’ve had several conversations with him. He seems quite concerned that I am not “saved”, since I do not believe in eternal security, but rather in seeking to know and obey the will of the Lord and in repenting when I know that I’ve sinned. I’ve been praying to know what the Lord would have me say to him that might help him, and so it was interesting to read your post. I would love to hear more of your thoughts on the topic.

I’m sorry about the problem that pastor has. We’ve had similar issues, and ended up being KICKED out - like the song says (HILARIOUS, but sadly true!!!).
I didn’t really know what a Calvinist was until a few weeks ago, and I’m appalled knowing a few of the families we know are. I am a not a Calvinist nor do I believe once saved always saved or destined to heaven, no matter. I think it is very unBiblical.
I *just* wrote on how people misrepresent the faith in the church, FROM the pulpit to woo people into the faith and that is why they fall away when they see it’s not all about me, me, me.

The false teaching at our church is in the past, we have a new Man of God, a new name for our church and we are moving forward, so remove the article about our old pastor, so it will not be a hindrance to our new pastor.
Reply : : Thank you for comment. As far as the Article about your old pastor, it will stay as a reminder about being deceived by following a man instead of God.
What your church needs is not a name change, but a direction change, clean hands, and a pure heart and true Revival can bring this forth and fruits meet for repentance.
A revival will uncover sin in the church and cause it to be confessed and forsaken. Admittedly it is a shame for these things to need to be confessed, but it is a far greater shame to allow them to remain covered, quietly choking the life of the individual and the church.
Revival can be a blessing to any church that really wants to be awakened; Worldliness must go out of the church, God says, “Friendship of the world is enmity with God”.
We seldom appreciate the ring of the alarm clock while we are still half asleep, but one needs to become fully awake and realize the lateness of the hour and the fact that each one, prepared or not, has an appointment with God.
And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof. Romans 13:11-14

It can be difficult living in a country where your heart language isn't spoken, and there is no church service in English. And obviously there is no Christian radio station. It was a blessing to stumble onto your web site and find the mp3's. If you are curious how I arrived at your site, I'd Googled the word "psaltery" as I've been learning to play the instrument. I first came to Lacy's page, A Godly Maiden, and followed the links. - CM

Listen to what Richard Wurmbrand, a believer who spent 14 years in a Communist prison in Romania said at the end of a sermon he preached in a church in America (his English is not perfect and this is transcribed verbatim):
“I know what you expect now. Usually at the end of the sermons American preachers say ‘Now every head bowed every eye closed nobody looking around. If you lift your hands or come forward if you decide for Christ.’ And I asked the American preachers ‘Why must every head be bowed and why must eyes be closed and nobody look around’. And he told me they would not come forward if somebody would look at them. Well, if they don’t wish to come forward let them remain seated.
If they are not ready to endure so much that somebody should look at them how would they endure that snakes should creep upon their bellies. How will they endure to be fed with feces and with urine. How will they endure 43 years of prison for Christ. There is such a christianity of whole hearted surrender to Him. If somebody does not wish to come to heaven let him just quietly go to hell. It’s his business. So I would ask you please keep your eyes wide open. Nobody should bow his head and please everybody look around. And I will not bargain with you and I will not ask you twice. If in these conditions anyone says… then raise your hand.” from ‘Doorkeepers’ Sermon by Richard Wurmbrand

Fortunately Chuck had no bearing in changing my belief and trust in God. It did however open my eyes in a different way of looking at things. I am not against any ones beliefs so please don’t get me wrong. Currently I attend a Methodist Church, for the longest time I was going from Baptist to Baptist trying to keep my roots but the whole while missing the big picture. I have memories not only of Chuck, but of churches floating there own boat of praise. I also have seen pastors that put on the I am the pastor mightier than you act, as well as listen to sermons telling you not to leave your children an inheritance but leave it to the church. The memory that is the strongest is the one of the invitation at the end of the service. Keeping this in mind, one of my most favorite stories of the Bible was when Jesus washed their feet. To me a very humble message, which I wonder if most preachers get it. What I said about the church floating its own boat, its good to tell someone a job well done, but going out in outreach, and putting forth an effort to do God’s work is expected. Our reward is heaven. As far as the offering, which I will agree has to be said from time to time; this comes with the promise of faith. God does provide. The last thing I have found true salvation. It cannot be derived from the invitation at the end of a service, or just merely repeating words. It is a belief in ones hart, a melding of your faith in God and Jesus dying on the cross. Invitations can be so detrimental for many reasons. Some do it for attention, some do it because they are expected to, some even to make them selves look better in the eyes of the people. I truly believe that unlike baptism, a person’s first step as a Christian should be between man and God in a no pressure situation. If it is real than God takes the wheel, but only if it is real. Without trying to judge, I would assume there are a lot of people that just go on the assumption that they are saved but at the same time truly don’t understand, or even want to understand.
Reply :
Kenny, we are thankful to God that you have not turned away from Him after witnessing the ungodly behavior of Mr. Shifflett. We also believe that the invitations given at the end of the service put undue pressure on people who may not be prepared to repent of their sins and often times it leads to a "profession" with no true repentance. This is a dangerous situation because most times, those type of people are met at the altar by a "helper" and are convinced that God will never leave them or forsake them no matter what they do after that moment. See our article on Eternal Security Heresy. We've also seen pastors who abuse the conscience of their people during this time... coaxing them, laying guilt trips on them and making them move forward to the altar when it's not the Holy Spirit doing the drawing, but more for the glorification of the "preacher." It makes it look like his message was a SUCCESS when in reality, there was nothing convicting about it!
The whole "heads bowed and eyes closed" request at the beginning of the invitation creates a "secret disciple" atmosphere. Jesus said "But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven." (Matthew 10:33 KJV) This is why I believe that invitations done in this manner are not Biblical. For this reason, our family does not comply with this request for conscience sake. God desires that we worship Him in "spirit and in truth" so why do they need an altar anyway? Isn't that Old Testament style worship? It's also kinda interesting that the "pastor" stands directly above all those who are kneeling. Seems rather popish to me or like those who are at the altar are falling down worshipping the "pastor." If people want to pray, let them pray where they stand. If they want to make an open confession of their faith in Jesus, let the Spirit guide them, not the pastor's helper!

Kenny, I too remember Chuck. I was about 15 when I attended Faith Christian School. Don't have much nice to say about him because everything you said is totally on the mark. He was very, very, mean and didn't show much love at all. Funny, I saw him years later and he didn't remember me. Now I think it's because he blocked out how cruel he was to people in southern MD. Unlike many of the teenagers he was so mean to he didn't change my belief in God or my faith. It's taken me to realize that his way of thinking is off-the-wall. Also, a lot of young people now adults don't attend church or follow God and I think it's because of their memories. Sad. I now know that no relationship with God and tons of rules leads to rebellion. That's what we as teenagers did-rebel against God and our parents. But God is in control and He is who we should focus on. I really hope Chuck repents his ways and has a relationship with God. Maybe he will win souls in jail!

He also like to play agressively play with the kids, knocking the wind out of them in fun, tripping them, squeesing them excessively hard. I know I was there. 15 years old and defending my friend from his rath. How many more innocent lives did he scar? I have not yet even seen the mention of his dealings in Maryland. Thank God that our Lord has more mercy and compassion than most people who claim to be Saved. But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags...(Isaiah 64:6 KJV) So if all our Righteousness is as Filthy Rags..ummm...hmmm....What do ANY of us have to brag about?!?!?!?!NONE of us are ANYTHING....
Be Careful!
: Thank you for your comment. As an "Elder" in your church, I would have thought you would have agreed with God's Word to
"mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them." (Romans 16:17 KJV), but it saddens my heart to see you wrest the Scriptures and call us and yourself an unclean filthy rag.
As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction. (2 Peter 3:16 KJV) We will pray that God's Holy Word (the King James Bible)will bring you to the realization that
"No man, when he hath lighted a candle, putteth it in a secret place, neither under a bushel, but on a candlestick, that they which come in may see the light." (Luke 11:33 KJV)
Those who don't know God, do not understand that good works are counted unto His children as RIGHTEOUSNESS.
He delights in those who do righteousness. Blessed are they that keep judgment, and he that doeth righteousness at all times. (Psalms 106:3 KJV)
Sin is that abominable thing which the Lord hates. Perhaps you prefer to believe in fables, cover the truth, and sin as opposed to exposing error, telling the truth, and living holy?
Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; (1 Timothy 4:1-2 KJV)Mercy and compassion are shown by telling the truth about sin and where it will send a person. Not everyone wants that type of compassion though. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God. (John 3:20-21 KJV) Even the woman who was caught in adultery was brought into the light by her accusers. Jesus himself commanded her to "go and sin no more," Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. (John 8:12 KJV) It is pretty plain why her accusers did not cast a stone, they, being convicted by their own conscience went out one by one into the darkness, because their deeds were evil and they were made manifest by the light.
There are plenty of Biblical examples of people that the Lord was well pleased with and whose good works were counted unto them for righteousness. What will he say to you? "Terribly done, thou filthy and unholy servant" or "Well done, thou good and faithful servant?" The first will be cast into outer darkness and there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth (Mat 25:30 KJV) and the second will enter into his eternal home with God.
That he might sanctify and cleanse it (the church) with the washing of water by the word, That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. (Ephesians 5:26-27 KJV) Does this sound like Christians are filthy rags to you?
Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness. Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless. (2 Peter 3:13-14 KJV) Do you still want filthy rag righteousness?
By proclaiming the "truth" - the Word of God, we are sanctified by the faithful application of truth to the heart. Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. (John 17:17 KJV) Jesus came to set us free from sin and being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him; (Hebrews 5:9 KJV) That is not bragging. It is simply giving God the glory that is due him!
And who is he that will harm you, if ye be followers of that which is good? But and if ye suffer for righteousness' sake, happy are ye: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled; But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear: Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ. For it is better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing, than for evil doing. (1 Peter 3:13-17 KJV)
What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid! (Romans 6:1-2 KJV)
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. (Romans 12:1 KJV)

In your article about Dr. Shifflett, you said that you were sucked into this false teaching while you attended there. It seems to me that you are judging Dr. Shifflett and the teachings that you are now following ......... has lead to a self righteous attitude and appearance.
What you need is to come to the understanding that it is God who saves sinners, not Pharisee’s who think they are living under the law. We as saved sinners are under Grace........Maybe you should re-read your King James Bible.............for the sake of your souls and the souls of your children.
Just a thought?
Just A Sinner Saved by Grace
:
Thank you for your comment. Yes, it’s true we were taught false doctrine while under Shifflett’s pastorate. We knew we were not being fed God’s Words, but Shifflett’s tales, that’s why we left. Our life now is built on a solid foundation that Jesus Christ and his apostles laid. Our faith in God has truly changed how we think and our appearance. We have come out from among the world as we have been commanded to do. This is not self righteousness, but God calls it righteousness and holiness! Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous. (1 John 3:7 KJV)
At Calvary Baptist the Bible principle of sowing and reaping was never applied to the believer about his “sin”. It was only applied to soul winning, tithing, attendance and loyalty to the “preacher.” It was always drilled into the people that they were “in the flesh” and did not have the ability to keep from sinning. . .another lie! God’s Word teaches “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.” (Galatians 6: 7-8 KJV)
We are to be a “living” testimony so others can see “Jesus Christ” in us, who came to save us from our sins, not the “false christ” who leaves you in sin. Jesus is looking for people who will serve him because they love him, not because the preacher lays a guilt trip on you to do so. Shifflett turned the “Grace of God” into lasciviousness which brought about lawlessness in the congregation and himself. Our lives have changed because we have read our King James Bible and if our lives are offensive to “so-called Christians” then the problem lies with them! God’s commandments are not grievous to us. Are they to you?
And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him. (1 John 2:3-5 KJV)
Salvation is a precious gift given to those who believe on Jesus, repent of their sins, love and obey God's commandments until they leave this world. He is looking for a peculiar people to shine His light in this dark world; Someone who will testify that His Words are true and right and display it in their everyday life. To the hypocrite "Christian” this is self-righteousness, but to the lost person it is conviction and condemnation that hangs upon their head like a heavy weight. Lost people understand that we are supposed to be different from them when we call ourselves a Christian. Sin will send people to hell and yet you have pastors telling congregations they can't do anything but SIN as Shifflett did!
They were born sinners, then they become "saved-sinners." The truth
is that God will not let ANY sinner into Heaven - only his holy saints will be there!
We have chosen to be Christ-like and cast off all iniquity as we have been commanded to do. We would love to see Bro. Shifflett repent and be restored as a Brother again. Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him; Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins. (James 5:19-20 KJV)
But, until that time comes he is a condemned sinner. Not a "saved sinner" as you call it. There is no such thing! Saved people are dead to sin. (Romans 6) Read your Bible!

It’s a shame this man was allowed to be behind the pulpit for so long. You’re right, Shifflett did teach that a person is sealed once they are saved and cannot lose their salvation - not even if they want to. If what he said was true, then he must have never been saved to begin with. God isn’t going to let a person like him into Heaven!
: Thank you for commenting. If Mr. Shifflett was not saved to begin with, how is it that so many people followed his teachings for so many years. He had a devoted following for over 20 years of people who also claim to be saved. Were these people also deceived about his salvation for so many years? Does this mean that these people are not saved either since they had no spiritual discernment about his salvation?
No, I don’t believe that. The Bible is clear that there will be “brothers who depart from the faith” for various reasons – lust, pride, error in doctrine, etc. Saying he was never saved to begin with is the easy road that people use when someone does depart from the faith, because they were taught the heresy of unconditional eternal security.
If eternal security is true and once you’re saved and you live right for a while, then you live ungodly the rest of your life - "carnal Christian" The once saved always saved doctrine declares that these people will be in Heaven, including Mr. Shifflett! Even though God says that no whoremonger, murder, liar, thief, adulterer, or unbeliever will be there. The OSAS doctrine tries to override God! I don't care how many bricks you knelt by to ask God to save you, if you're not abiding in Him and His Words, then you can forget about salvation for your soul."No man shall be saved but he that willfully hears and endlessly keeps God's law." -John Wycliffe

Did you know that he pleaded guilty to all of the current charges only because the state agreed to drop the charges against his wife if he did so? He made the guilty plea to save his wife the stress of a trial and possible prison time for herself. He has sacrificed himself for the love of his wife.
Please mention this in anything else you write about this.
Also - regarding the child abuse charges from earlier: He did not admit doing any of those things. He made the guilty plea because there was such a mountain of charges against him that had it gone to trial at least one of them would probably have stuck. Since there was no trial in either situation we can never know for sure what is truth and what was not.
I personally do not think any of the child abuse was actually abuses. I am pretty certain that he did spank and paddle some of the children as needed but I doubt there was anything sexual in it for him.
I also don't think he is actually smart enough to commit the frauds he has plead guilty to. I think he may have accepted advice from some hillbilly who thought he knew something about those money matters. If he believed that someone was a real expert in some field, he gave that person his complete trust and accepted whatever advice was given. Maybe he was just set up by someone he had angered previously?
I do NOT know the answers and since there will not be any trials none of us will ever see the facts involved in either case. Maybe he IS, in fact, guilty of all this stuff, maybe not. His pleas of guilty come only from duress and a desire to protect his wife.
Again, I am NOT defending him. If he is truly guilty God will deal with him when the time comes. It is NOT our place to judge.
Keep the faith, Brother/Sister! But PLEASE publish all the facts in the future.

: Thanks for leaving a comment, Dave. There are many news sites such as ( ) available on the internet for those who are interested in the factual listing of Mr. Shifflett's felony charges. This website was addressing the damaging "Spiritual" aspects of Mr. Shifflett's leadership and doctrines.
Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters? Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life? (1 Corinthians 6:2-3 KJV)
As a child of God, it is our duty to "judge" the fruits of a "brother's life" whether they are of God or the devil. Had this happened years ago, many people would not be suffering spiritually, mentally, physically and/or financially. Mr.Shifflett is a twice convicted felon who is now reaping the reward of his iniquity. I'll let those facts speak for themselves.
Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? (Romans 6:16 KJV)

The case that was investigated and prosecuited against Charles Shifflett did not reveil a fraction of the misery and pain this man had caused against the children of Calvary Baptist Church. I would like to personally apologize to all those who did not come forward because of fear. When any man instills the kind of fear that "Chuck" did in his congragation they do not deserve to be on the face of this earth much less preaching to others. His current congragation will at some point attempt to drink the kool aid. I pray each of them can sleep at night and function in their daily routines. asked
WHO TOLD YOU THAT THE KING JAMES VERSION IS THE ONLY ONE TO USE?
John 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into
all truth
ONE VERSE, 1 Corinthians 1:21
2 DIFFERENT meanings...
If teaching an untruth about God blasphemes God, then consider the following,
We MUST be careful of our WORDS...
I heard a preacher on the radio quote this verse,
1Corinthians 1:21 For since, in God's wisdom, the world did not know God through wisdom, God was pleased to save those who believe through the foolishness of the message preached.
That particular verse is from the Holman Christian Standard Bible, and reads the same in MOST other 'modern' versions. That preacher doesn't give much thought to what he is saying, for that verse (Holman Version) says that God calls the GOSPEL foolish!
Yes it does!
Diagram the sentence, it is God's point of view here, not man's.
I am aware of the verses that say MAN calls the Gospel foolishness, this IS NOT them!!!
The modern versions say they make the Bible easy to read.
But if the same bibles say DIFFERENT things, then they are NOT the same.
EXAMPLES from the text under discussion...
1Corinthians 1:21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe .(FOOLISH METHOD)
King James Bible
1Corinthians 1:21 For since, in God's wisdom, the world did not know God through wisdom, God was pleased to save those who believe through the foolishness of the message preached. (FOOLISH MESSAGE)
Holman Christian Standard Bible
1Corinthians 1:21 For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe. (FOOLISH MESSAGE)
New International Version which is published by Rupert Murdock
1Corinthians 1:21 For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not come to know God, God was well-pleased through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe. (FOOLISH MESSAGE) New American Standard Bible
1Corinthians 1:21 For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe. (FOOLISH MESSAGE)
New King James Version
Diagram the sentence, you see that this verse is GOD'S POINT OF VIEW, not man's.
In the KJB "the foolishness of preaching" is GOD'S point of view of the METHOD He has chosen for people to be saved!
The "foolishness of the message preached." in the HCSB and other versions, is a HERESY of GOD'S point of view of the MESSAGE, NOT the method!
It is GOD calling the Gospel 'FOOLISHNESS'!
THAT COULD NEVER HAPPEN!
Has not that preacher who gave little thought to what he was saying, BLASPHEMED GOD by preaching a lie?
And IF the preacher holds forth that version as authored by the HOLY SPIRIT of God, has he not BLASPHEMED the Holy Spirit?
God is NOT the author of confusion, and the HOLY SPIRIT has NOT inspired lies,

***Wow... Thats really nice to see my Pastor on your little website***
Dear Hilary, IF you are a follower of the Lord Jesus Christ, along a very NARROW way, your 'Pastor' IS Jesus Christ, and your Teacher is the Holy Spirit of God, through the Word of God.
Why don't you know this?
Who taught Peter, John, Paul? What 'seminary' (pronounced CEMETARY) did they attend?
Is He somehow incapable of teaching His followers today?
Eph 4:11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some,
pastors
and
teachers;
Those are NOT titled positions.
1Timothy 5:17 Let the elders that rule...
Elders run the ASSEMBLY of believers, ANY man led of the Spirit can 'pastor' (FEED)
and 'teach', prophecy (READ the WORD), to edification and exhortation of the saints.
(the Elders are to see that he teaches TRUTH)
But there is ONLY ONE Pastor/Shephard of the Church, the LORD GOD ALMIGHTY JESUS WHO IS THE CHRIST
I enjoyed this site, and appreciate the leading of the Spirit here,

Yall have really gone downhill . I really feel bad for you .. I remember the day when yall basically worshiped Phil Kidd But now I guess you dont like him. Yall can never stay constant can you ? Your a differant religion every other year. Levi and Lacy must be really confused. Well I will pray for you.. Have fun livnig under the law.
Reply : Thanks for visiting our website, Hilary! If you would have read the article below your pastor's picture, you might understand why he and the other men are on there. We never worshipped Phil Kidd. At that time in our life we were pretty ignorant of what Scripture taught. When we were in the Baptist church, we didn't read the Bible as much as we should have. We simply relied on the preachers to preach what we thought was God's Word. But a time came when we began to read the King James Bible on our own and we found that what was being preached was contrary to sound doctrine and so yes, we changed! We are conforming to the image of Jesus Christ, the author and finisher of our faith.
It is our faith in God that has produced such a drastic change in our lives. There are so many things that the "preachers" fail to tell the people and many verses left out or twisted to prove their own point, but when they are revealed to the heart in their proper context, God's Word can be very powerful and life changing. As far as Levi and Lacy being confused, I believe you're terribly mistaken. They are being nurtured in the admonition of the Lord and have a holy reverence for the things of God. Isn't that what being a Christian is supposed to produce. . . good fruits? I thank you for your prayers and we will also pray for you as you seek God with your whole heart.

I read the article about you folks not observing Christmas, and it makes sense to me. I haven't really gotten into what we call the "Christmas Spirit" for several years now, I guess because I have lost several relatives in the holiday season, it just doesn't do anything for me anymore.

I read eternal security. I liked it. Brought home great points.
Yes one can change their mind from belief to unbelief. Yet for me that is real hard to understand. Since I came to understand that he did take away all sins at the cross before I was ever born, except unbelief. The worlds' sin is unbelief in Christ Jesus. I realize this does not mean to take advantage of grace. It was meant to appreciate.
So I walk by faith, where obedience is the by product. By faith in Christ, ye are saved, yet if I neglect it, I would be the saddest for I would not be with my savior. I am just saying it starts at belief in the savior. And when someone believes they will grow in grace, and by that grace they will learn to say no to unrighteousness, as in timothy. It is the grace of god that teaches man to say no to unrighteousness.
I realize it is hard to explain, how faith and obedience go hand in hand. I just choose not to put obedience first, for faith is the leader. Obedience does not produce faith, any more than a branch does not produce the fruit. The branch can only bear it. The tree and root produce it in and through the branch. We are the branches and the only way we can bear fruit is by faith, (trust) in the vine (Jesus Christ), whom it is that does the work through the believer.
My two cents, hope this helps your growth you helped mine, for it easy to get off track, so I thank you for what you wrote.

Nice to see the site coming along! Your site provide much a needed resource for those who need to "Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. "
However, as we bring our offences to other believers, may our "speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt."
Let us always, to, remember where our strength really lies - in the Person of Jesus Christ. Anything not centered around Him is eccentric, and fit for the trash heap. Amen?
Also, Bro. Bill, wanting to know your opinion of some of the materials on . Some of those sermons are pretty good, and, of course, some aren't.

Dear Self Family,
I just read your answer to the young man about the KJV. You did a great job. There is a big push today to set aside the Word of God for a "feeling" based relationship with a "Jesus" of our own imagination. Without the Word of God through a correct translation, we don't even know the true Jesus -- "Hereby we do know that we know Him, if we keep his commandments". Being filled with the Spirit (Eph. 5:1

is equal to letting the Word of Christ dwell in us richly (Col. 3:16) -- These books were written nearly at the same time, and if you'll notice the results of both fillings are the same (see following verses in each book). The Holy Spirit didn't come to testify of himself, but to bring to remembrance and illuminate what Jesus said. There is no new revelations of Jesus Christ. If we know him it will be through our minds being illuminated to the truth of the Word of God -- all else is a religion of our untrustworthy imagination. Thank God for the men who gave their lives as vessels for God to use in preserving his Word for our generation. Thank God for the KJV.
