This is a picture of my former pastor. . . Dr. Charles Shifflett.  He plead guilty Tuesday morning to 21 charges of obtaining money by false pretenses, tax fraud and filing false workman’s compensation claims.  In December 2006, he plead guilty to six charges of assault and battery and a charge of cruelty to children for allegations of child abuse from former students at Calvary Baptist Academy, 20 years ago.  

In reference to the allegation of Shifflett's child abuse, Bob Hooker from Hyles Anderson College  said  "The news media is habitual slander mongers and seldom if ever care enough to verify statements before printing as evidenced by the statement of the so called interim pastor

He states definitively that they were struck but then says he did not see it. If he did not see it, he does not know it happened and  If he knew it happened years ago what kind of person is he for doing nothing then. What you have is a disgruntled manipulator of information."
Perhaps Mr. Hooker should apologize to Calvary Baptist Church, since Mr. Shifflett has since plead guilty to these horrendous charges of child abuse. 

Needless to say, I'm sad to see another man fall because of sin.  

As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction. Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness. (2 Peter 3:16-17 KJV)

  We are all capable of being deceived like Mr. Shifflett and Mr. Hooker, so God says to "BEWARE" so you don't fall also.  I do not delight in the fact that Mr. Shifflett is facing prison time, although I am glad to see justice finally being served for his unlawful deeds.  Sin may be covered for a while but the Bible says, "behold, ye have sinned against the LORD: and be sure your sin will find you out." (Numbers 32:23 KJV)  There is also something to be learned by our legal system and that is that stealing money is a more punishable offence than abusing children! 

For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. (1 Timothy 6:10 KJV)

The doctrine that was taught at Calvary Baptist Church by Charles Shifflett is clearly not what my King James Bible teaches.  He taught that once a person prayed to God and asked to be saved (prayed a prayer) then they were eternally secure, meaning they could never lose the free gift of salvation.  The thing is, he never told the people what they were saved from!  The Bible clearly states that Jesus came to save his people from "their sin." 

And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.
(Matthew 1:21 KJV)

I was once sucked into this false teaching, prayed to God for salvation but still continued to live in sin.  It's what we were taught. I didn't know any better.  He was the "spiritual leader" and I thought he could be trusted with my soul.  Had I read my King James Bible like I was supposed to be doing, I would have seen sooner the lies he was teaching.  It's all there, so clear and easy to be understood without all the twisting these "men of God" put on it.  Thanks be to God, for getting us out of that environment and planting our feet on the solid rock of His Word. And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. (John 8:32 KJV)

Scripture Song - If Ye Forsake Him

Eternal life in Heaven is only achieved by obeying God.  And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him; (Hebrews 5:9 KJV)  Right now, all the  Baptists are crying, "We're saved by grace!"  Yes, this is true.  We are saved by Grace though FAITH.  Only a living, active, enduring faith in Jesus Christ and his atonement will supply the needed Grace to obtain salvation. 

So, according to his own teaching, the guilty Charles Shifflett who abused children (physically & sexually) and stole countless amounts of money will be in Heaven with a Holy, Righteous God and all the Holy angels and all the Saints of all time who overcame the world, the flesh, and the devil. . . who with a living faith endured to the end of their Righteous lives with Holy hands and a pure heart and conscience before God.  Heaven won't seem like Heaven with a person like Charles Shifflett there, will it?  Could he be trusted with all the children who will be in Heaven? I pray he repents before it's too late.

Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? (Romans 6:16 KJV)

I suggest to all those who have been taught this particular false doctrine to consider the doctrine that you have been taught.  There are many things we were taught at Calvary Baptist church that are unBiblical because Scripture was twisted to convince his own guilty conscience that he was assured salvation while living in sin.

 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. This is your only hope!

But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. (Revelation 21:7-8 KJV)

Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. (Galatians 6:7 KJV)

Pay attention here. . . .

Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. (1 Corinthians 6:9-10 KJV)

There is NO SALVATION for the ungodly!

For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. (Hebrews 10:26-27 KJV)

This is totally against what people are taught in churches--Once saved always saved!  But, God's words are true and right and they are what we will be judged by in the end.

For a good tree bringeth not forth corrupt fruit; neither doth a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
For every tree is known by his own fruit. For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes.
A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh. (Luke 6:43-45 KJV)

Mr. Shifflett has proven what kind of tree he is by his fruit... evil fruit.  He has hurt many people and innoculated them against the truth of God's Word.  I do hope that for anyone who reads this that they understand Mr. Shifflett is not a true representation of what a Christian is.  Don't turn your back on God because of hurt or pain he has caused you, because if you do, one day you will receive condemnation and an eternity in the lake of fire for your sin also. 

  For all those who are still at Calvary Baptist. . .pay close attention to doctrine.  Check out what is being preached.  Be the watchmen God expects you to be.  Guard and teach the children that are left, be true to God's Word. Run off hirelings and those who consistently fleece God's flock.  Our prayers are constantly before God on your behalf.  Please wake up for the sake of your souls and the souls of your children.
