Was there ever
a time when you were reading your Bible and you wondered
who it was that falls away, departs from the faith, errs
from the faith or apostatizes? If you've read the Bible
often surely this thought will have entered your mind!
Let's see what
God has to say about this subject!
"For it is
impossible for those who were once enlightened,
and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were
made partakers of the Holy Ghost, And have
tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the
world to come, If they shall fall
away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they
crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him
to an open shame." Hebrews 6:4-6
"Brethren,
if any of you
(referring back to the
BRETHREN) do err
from the truth, and one convert him; Let him know,
that he which converteth the sinner from the error of
his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a
multitude of sins." James 5:19-20
"Now the Spirit
speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some
shall depart from the faith, giving heed to
seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;"
1Timothy 4:1
"From which
some having swerved have turned aside unto
vain jangling;
Desiring to be teachers of the law; understanding
neither what they say, nor whereof they affirm." 1
Timothy 1:6-7
"Ye therefore,
beloved, seeing ye know these things before,
beware
lest ye also,
being led away with the error of the wicked,
fall from your own
stedfastness." 2 Peter
3:17
Take heed,
brethren, lest
there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in
departing from the living God. Hebrews 3:12
Now. . . one
who falls away has to be a "brother," one who was
enlightened, tasted the heavenly gift and was
a partaker of the Holy Ghost. The Bible is clear on
that. It's not referring to someone who has always been
a heathen and never had faith in Jesus. Those who fall
away, at some point in their life, had saving faith,
then turned their back on God.
** There is some good news for
those who remain faithful and true to our new
husband, Jesus, and are not led astray by ungodly men
who've turned the grace of God into lasciviousness {Jude
1:4} **
"And ye shall
be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that
endureth to the end shall be saved."
Mat. 10:22
And so,
after he had patiently
endured,
he obtained the promise.
Hebrews 6:15
For we are made partakers of Christ,
if we hold the beginning of our
confidence stedfast unto the end; Hebrews 3:14
"Because strait is the gate, and narrow is
the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that
find it." Mat. 7:14 |
