Greetings in the precious name of our Lord and Saviour! My name is Bill Self. Welcome to our family's "About Us" page, which we have created to tell you more about our family and our faith in Jesus Christ.

We are a family of four with two children: Levi (age 17) and Lacy (age 15) and both are home-schooled. My wife, Donna, and I were born again in the early 1990's. We live on a small farm in Central Virginia close by Lake Anna where we raise chickens, guinea fowl, ducks, and turkeys.

Our newest additions are a small flock of guinea fowl that are being raised and trained by Lacy (with plenty of help from our two older guineas!) and they are also getting pretty spoiled by her constant attention! We have one collie dog named Gabriel, who is a smooth (short-haired) sable-colored collie. We are trying to train him to be a guard for the farm and house.

My son, Levi is My right arm when it comes to the work around the farm from building repair, raising a new roof, stump removal and of course tending the animals.

Our family lives a simple life, separated from the world and it's evil influences. We have been a part of many Independent Fundamental Baptist churches over the years, learning and growing at each one. But because of the many false doctrines being taught in the churches, we felt the Lord leading us to leave that environment. Now we 'home-church' and study the Word of God at home, and we are seeking to find some like-minded families somewhere close that we could have fellowship with.

Obeying The Truth was created to challenge, encourage, and enlighten other Christians who are seeking the truth. We try to search out the Scriptures and hope you will do the same!

We believe the King James Bible is the only true Bible for the English-speaking people, and that all modern versions are counterfeit.

We also obey 1 Corinthians 11's command for women to cover their head with an extra material veil.

We believe that our bodies are the temple of the Holy Ghost and that He dwells within us, not in a temple made with hands.

We believe that one must crucify his flesh (die to his sinful desires), take up his own cross and hate his own life to become a disciple of Jesus.

We believe that one can turn his back on God and depart from God and His commandments as Adam did in the Garden of Eden and others did throughout Scripture.

The Bible is clear that we will be accountable for our own sin, not for Adam's sin. (This is why we believe all are born in a state of innocence by the Grace of God, because infants can neither choose to do good or evil.) However, the curse of "death" was passed on all mankind.

We believe that Godly sorrow and repentance (turning from sin to God) are necessary for salvation.

We believe that Jesus is the Saviour from sin, not just a free ticket to Heaven. (No easy-believism here)  God's salvation is not cheap and easy.

We believe that Jesus is Lord everyday, not just on the weekends!  We are full-time Christians and we're not gettin' paid for it!

We believe pagan holidays such as christmas and easter are not true Christian holidays, but are of the devil.
